Hole 1
Par 4 | Yards: 490 | Handicap: 5
The first hole at Trump National Colts Neck is a subtle starting hole. From the black tees, a good player will play a driver and a short iron. There is a cross bunker on the right-hand side that the player must avoid, so it is best to keep the ball on the left-hand side. The second shot is over the bunker to a green that is reverse two-tiered from front to back. Although it is a short hole, it is a very challenging second shot. The putting green has nice undulation and flows sharply from left to right in the back part of the green. Players should refrain from being too bold on this first approach of the day.
Hole 2
Par 5 | Yards: 581 | Handicap: 17
Although the second hole plays 581 yards from the Championship Tees, it's a very moderate par 5, especially from the two upper tees at only 505 yards from the black tees and 481 yards from the blue tees. The tee shot on this dogleg-right is very important as it funnels to a tight fairway with bunkers to the right and left if a player hits the ball too far on the drive. The second is one that could record many birdie opportunities. The green is pretty flat in contour, allowing the player to get off to a good start.
Hole 3
Par 3 | Yards: 236 | Handicap: 11
The third hole is a par 3, measuring 236 yards from the back tee over water. A hybrid or long iron is the play for the good player as the hole has a nice opening to the front, allowing players to be able to bounce the ball in or pitch the ball to the back on this two tiered green. There is an upper shelf on the rear of the green that is the premium pin placement. Again, the third hole is just a nice starting hole to get the players out and going.
Hole 4
Par 4 | Yards: 313 | Handicap: 15
The fourth hole is easy but tricky. Measuring only 313 yards from the back tees, it is a tight driving hole with bunkers on the left and a hazard on the right. Players can look for a lay-up with a long iron or a fairway wood. If the wind is behind you, drive it up the left side and it actually becomes a driveable par 4. Like the second hole, it is very important to drive the ball in the fairway on the fourth hole. Players must avoid the two deep bunkers on the left-hand side off the tee.
Hole 5
Par 4 | Yards: 460 | Handicap: 3
The fifth is a 460-yard, par 4, slight dogleg to the left with a cross bunker off the tee and a deep side bunker on the corner. On the tee shot, the player must hit it across the corner, keeping it to the right of the bunker up the left side in order to have any chance of hitting the green on the second shot. The second shot is a long iron to the green and favors a left-to-right shot to a punchbowl green. The hole plays to the south right into the prevailing wind, making it one of the tougher holes on the course.
Hole 6
Par 4 | Yards: 474 | Handicap: 1
The sixth hole is another tough par 4 at 474 yards from the back tees. Your tee shot needs to stay to the right in order to have any chance. Players must carry water on this second shot all the way to the green. While it is one of the larger greens on the front nine, it is tough - very undulating with a large saddle that runs across the middle and a soft front. If the ball does not stay to the right, it will feed down into a grassy rough. The player must be on the front of the upper tier, or in the middle of the saddle to have any chance of making a birdie. Precise distance on the second shot is required.
Hole 7
Par 5 | Yards: 550 | Handicap: 9
The seventh hole is a par 5, 590 yards, dogleg to the left. The player must drive it up the right side off the tee. The proper target is the large middle bunker of the three bunkers, straight ahead down the middle. On the second shot, the player needs to make a decision whether to lay up short of the ridge that crosses the fairway or to try to go for the green in two. From the ridge, there are only 110 yards left, so most players will want to lay up in between the bunkers to make it a 3-shot hole. The green is protected by a bunker in the front left and water over the backside of the green, so it is very important not to go long.
Hole 8
Par 3 | Yards: 200 | Handicap: 13
The eighth hole, a 200-yard par 3, requires a tee shot over the water and over the bunker that guards the right-hand side of the green. The green is shallow from front to back, but it is long from left to right. The player must hit it not only in the right direction, but the right distance to get the ball close to the hole. The high handicapper can bail out to the left and hit just short and left of the green. As the hole gets shorter, the green opens up more from left to right and is an easier approach than from the back or upper tees.
Hole 9
Par 4 | Yards: 427 | Handicap: 7
Measuring 427 yards from the back tees, the ninth hole starts with a very demanding tee shot carrying about 180 yards of water plus one bunker with the drive from the back. There is water all the way up the right-hand side. It must be a precise tee shot here at the ninth hole. The challenge here is the continuous water hazard up the right even on the second shot, which is rather straightforward. The green is left to right. If you are long, there is a bunker. If you are short, there is water. This is not a hole you would normally birdie.
Hole 10
Par 4 | Yards: 457 | Handicap: 4
Our tenth hole features a bunker off the right-hand side, fescues left and right, and a large, deep bunker protecting the front center of the green. The green is deep from the front left to the back right. The player must hit the ball deep enough to carry the bunkers to the green, which has a swale that runs up through the middle of it. Between the front bunker and the swale, this green has many difficult pin positions, which make it a true challenge.
Hole 11
Par 3 | Yards: 152 | Handicap: 18
Measuring only 152 yards from the back tees, the 11th hole is a very traditional perched up green, guarded by bunkers all around and fronted by water for the upper tees. The hole still allows the players to bounce the ball in for the high handicappers, women and children. It requires a more precise tee shot to score well here. This hole is a very traditional design, reminiscent of the old-style true to the New Jersey area.
Hole 12
Par 4 | Yards: 441 | Handicap: 12
A 441-yard par 4, the 12th hole has a long carry across a pond with two deep bunkers on the left and the right. You drive through to an elevated fairway. The downhill second shot is some 170+ yards to the end of this green. It is a large green, long from front to back with a bunker on the short right, roughly 30 yards short of the green. That bunker is a bit of a deception to the player as it appears that the bunker is built right next to the green.
Hole 13
Par 5 | Yards: 533 | Handicap: 14
The 13th hole measures 533 yards from the back tees with bunkers lying to the left and right off the tee. You need to carry the bunkers on the left and keep left of the bunkers on the right. There are bunkers that guard the second shot up the left and bunkers in the hill on the right, which are targets off the tee. The green is long right to left with a pronounced swale in the middle of the green. Players will find the swale to be quite challenging on the third shot.
Hole 14
Par 4 | Yards: 512 | Handicap: 2
The is one of the toughest holes on the back nine. It is a slight dogleg to the left that requires a carry over fescue from the tee to a fairway with bunkers left and right. A drive that favors the left side of the fairway is best. The premium is on the long second shot over a small pond to a slightly elevated, long two-tiered green. A large bunker guards the left side of the green with a pot bunker on the front right. The swale through the middle of the green is challenging for even the most skilled players.
Hole 15
Par 3 | Yards: 218 | Handicap: 10
One of the most beautiful holes on the course, the 15th hole is the only double-tree lined par 3. Narrow from the back trees, the player must hit to a green that is very undulating and has a few pin placements in the front. A large dip in the middle and back creates challenging hole locations.
Hole 16
Par 4 | Yards: 443 | Handicap: 16
The 16th hole appears to be a tough par 4, however, it is a very good opportunity for a player on the way in to try to make a birdie. It is quite thrilling with three bunkers up the left-hand side, a deep bunker about 50 yards short of the green, and a couple more bunkers left of the green. A player needs to stay right of the bunkers on the left, leaving an open shot coming into the green. The green has two levels and the back level is guarded by several bunkers on the left side with a very steep slope separating the two.
Hole 17
Par 4 | Yards: 511 | Handicap: 8
A strong par 4 hole with a big bunker on the right and a large bunker on the left, you must keep it up the left-hand side to have the best entry into the green. The green slopes slightly from left to right as you approach it. This is a three-tiered green with a front left portion, a middle portion, and a back right portion. The most difficult pin position is at the rear of the green.
Hole 18
Par 5 | Yards: 541 | Handicap: 6
The finishing hole is a gambler with water down the right hand side of the tee and three bunkers on the left. The second shot is where the premium play must come in with water on the left and a hazard on the right. The long hitters can reach this hole in two as it is slightly downhill and downwind in a prevailing breeze. The green is angled from the back left to front right and is undulating with a bunker left and a bunker long in the back. You need a perfectly struck second shot to stay on it.
Hole 19
Par 3 | Yards: 128
After completing 18 championship holes, you will discover our one-of-a-kind “19th hole,” a par 3, island green sitting just below the Clubhouse terrace. The hole measures a mere 128 yards from the tee to a green narrow from front to back. If the wind is blowing, it takes a well-executed wedge shot to hit and hold the green. Any mishits will have your ball finding the water that surrounds the entire putting surface. Finish strong here or risk friendly banter from the terrace onlookers.
